Thématiques de recherche : Mickaël Coustaty is an associate professor in computer science at the Laboratoire Informatique, Image et Interaction (L3i) at La Rochelle University since 2015. His research focuses on the analysis of complex documents using multimodal approaches that combine textual and visual content.
Points forts des activités de recherche : The majors contributions of Mickaël Coustaty are related to the analysis and the correction of OCR errors in all kind of documents (historical documents ; administrative documents) on the one hand, and to the multimodal analysis of these documents, on the other hand. In both cases, its will is to develop novel approaches able to deal with the specificities of documents and to bring some relevant and understandable results. Its works have been then applied to document classification, information extraction and document understanding. In 2021, he became the first French researcher to receive the IAPR/ICDAR Young Investigator Award, granted by the International Association for Pattern Recognition, in recognition of his outstanding contributions in the field of document analysis and recognition.
In parallel, he is collaborating with the CEBC lab on biologging approaches to study the impact of global warming on the ocean and the biodiversity. Finally, he is also co-director of the Master’s program in Digital Law, specializing in Tiers de Confiance et Sécurité Numérique (Trusted Third Parties and Digital Security), at La Rochelle University since 2016.
